when I plug head phones, sound comes out both from my computer's speakers and the head phones. what shall I do?

what shall I down load to have my speakers and head phones work independently.

I want to block the sound that comes out of my speakers when I plug head phones or other accessory sound systems.

I'm sorry this issue isn't trivial and has many sources on how to get it work or not, depending on sound architecture.
