Amarok sound goes quiet then loud then quiet then loud within a track

Asked by Njal Alansson

Hi guys,

Sometime last week out of the blue Amarok sound started fluctating on some tracks. It goes quiet and then loud and then quiet and then loud again. It sometimes seems that it happens more when I use the internet although as I use the net all the time I have quite confirmed this 100%. I have tried playing the same tracks through VLC with no issue. However I have spent a lot of time setting Amarok up with album covers and lyrics I really would like to keep using it.

Please help me... thank you in advance I appreciate it!!

Bles
Njal

Ok, i've not used Amarok so it could be some setting or something somewhere but it does sound like an alsa or pulse-audio problem to me.

and i was also wondering if you have installed all the Medibuntu package for media apps in ubuntu, it's not a full Ubuntu (unlike Kubuntu or Xubuntu) it's just a package of drivers and codecs and things?

I was also wondering if you'd consider helping out the linux community by signing up to beta-test the BBC's iplayer and try watching some of their movies and give them some feedback so they can see it's worth trying to do things the linux way?

If you are still having trouble with this then please post it as a new question. Only the most recent questions tend to get looked at so posting/re-posting a question just before america arrives online after work/school gives the best chance of getting a good few answers - such is the nature of the internet.

If the problem has been resolved then please follow the link to the forum thread and mark it as Solved but please give us a clue how you did manage to solve it and also use the button under where you type stuff in rather than giving me karma credit points for just sending this note to you.

Apologies, good luck and many regards from
Tom :)
