what channel should my audio be. i have it on auto and i can't hear audio

Try right-clicking on the speaker icon by the clock and "Open Volume Control" in the mixer gui click on "Preferences" and add a few likely looking channels at a time to make sure none are muted and gently raise the volume levels until one of them works.
