My apologies - I'm simply receiving no audio output. It would appear I have no analog driver installed, however that shouldn't be the case.

Does the system have a make and model?

Again, sorry. Let me give you as much information as I can.

The model of the device in question is an HP Chromebook 11 G4.

I've flashed the bios with a custom firmware called SeaBios by John Lewis. All of that has gone exceptionally well, and there have been no issues in the process. I had assumed that Ubuntu was not detecting the driver because in the process of removing the write-protect screw, I may have disconnected the hardware.. but I checked and everything is as it should be.

It is a software/hardware issue.. but more than certainly a software issue due to the fact it was working just fine when it was running ChromeOS.. unless there is no software to handle this hardware in Ubuntu. Then I'm SOL.

When going into 'Sound Settings' I see no device for 'playthrough'.

Any assistance would be appreciated - thanks for the help.

Alright so after exhausting all of the options that I've found around the web, the only solution that worked for me was to not use Lubuntu (which I was using) - and simply use GalliumOS. It's designed for Chromebooks and the sound should is working flawlessly now. Thanks for the assistance, action. For those that are trying to stumble upon a fix for this issue - just download and install GalliumOS.
