Audio skips intermittently - AMD Radeon (R7 370 / R9 270/370) - Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS

I had been running Mint 18.02 on my HTPC (118" projection screen) for a while, but decided to try out the latest Ubuntu LTS. I used the Ubuntu 16.04.2 net install, to make sure all packages were up to date from the start. Everything was fine until I started watching a movie. The audio started to skip (1/8 - 1/4 second duration) at irregular intervals (1/4 - 10 seconds). The audio is going through an AMD Radeon R7 370 / R9 270/370 out the HDMI port.

I ran the following to determine the *device*:

Thank you for your rapid response. I attempted your suggestion in post #2, however after the reboot the issue persisted. I resumed the Wiki article after step 4, as it applied to my situation. The other outputs still work as expected.

Near the end of the article it suggests "[Other Useful Information to Quote](https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure#Other_Useful_Information_to_Quote)" those outputs are as follows.

Find your audio MIXER name:

Ahoy:

I'm not sure how to precede with the audio output issue, if anyone has an idea of what I should attempt next, I'd appreciate any additional thoughts or insights.

On my Ubuntu 16.04.2 system, as stated before:

> The audio started to skip (1/8 - 1/4 second duration) at irregular intervals (1/4 - 10 seconds). The audio is going through an AMD Radeon R7 370 / R9 270/370 out the HDMI port.

I performed the suggestion in post #2 and rebooted, however the issue persisted.
