Sound died completely, 16.04 xfce/ hydrogen, video, all shot
I don't know what happened. Ive been using ubuntu studio xfce and I have had a beast of a time with sound. At first, I couldn't run my outboard sound card (focusrite 2i2) but after fooling with starting all my programs in the right order and using Patchage, I can at least hear my sound (usually) through my monitor, but I cannot seem to run if through Ardour at all. The 2i2 is supposed to be plug and play, but I had no such luck. The closest I've gotten has been running jack, opening an effects program, running Cadence, and then using Patchage to run the effects to Ardour which doesn't record or display the sound's wave form... but that is not my issue, but if one of you experts can help, I'm all ears.
My immediate problem is having ZERO sound. I run pulseaudio from the terminal at statup and usually have no problems, but since I'm getting NO sound, I am at a loss. The pulseaudio volume control indicates that there is a signal coming from Chromium playback to the Jack sink, but I've zero control over playback ability:
