I have no audio whatsoever

Asked by Gabriel Castillo

I have a lenovo Ideapad y50, intel core i7, nvidia gforce gt 960m with dual boot. I am running the latest ubuntu studio version and I am just done with the installation of the OS and my required software. But now I am realizing that I have no audio whatsoever. I have googled and run over this issue for 2 days and still haven't found the solution. Could anybody shed some light in this issue?

Originally I was seeing the audio icon on the taskbar, but it is now gone. When it was there, everything was grayed out.
The current status is that when I try to run it I get : "Connection to PulseAudio failed retry in 5s ..." I have tried to follow all the options for starting the server manually, but it then says that the server rejected the connections.

Here is the result of the ALSA status script.

Any help would be huuuugely appreciated.

Thanks!

Your ALSA info output shows several muted channels.

Please run alsamixer in a Terminal and unmute and increase volume to
100% on the following mixer channels:

Simple mixer control 'Master',0
Simple mixer control 'Headphone',0
Simple mixer control 'Speaker',0
Simple mixer control 'Mic',0
Simple mixer control 'IEC958',0
Simple mixer control 'Beep',0

Use the M key to toggle mute/unmute for each channel.

Then retest sound output using 3.5mm jack headphones and speakers.

Test all audio jacks at the front and the back of your PC.
