Sound not working on Dell Precision Tower 7810 16.04LTS

After upgrading to 16.04 LTS from 14.04LTS of Ubuntu the sound stopped working. I've gone through the troubleshooting guide here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure.

Your ALSA info output shows several muted channels.

Simple mixer control 'Headphone',0

Please run alsamixer in a Terminal and unmute and increase volume to
100% on the following mixer channels:

Use the M key to toggle mute/unmute for each channel.

Then retest sound output using 3.5mm jack headphones and speakers.

Test all audio jacks at the front and the back of your PC.
