I'm afraid that I cannot remind exactly all the process I used, even after reviewing my browser history.
I relied on Ubuntu.org forums advices dealing with No sound issue with ALC 887 and describing several drivers re-install procedures.

I just can stress on a major success factor: I was connected to a Belgian server for updates and drivers download.
It seems that this option induced some missing packs and failed re-installations.
Then I switched to the main Ubuntu download server and all the re-install process worked properly.
