The OS is called Lubuntu, not Lumbuntu.

Do you get sound through headphones?

Hi,

Please try this procedure:

1. copy-paste the following command into the Terminal:

sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

2. Using the gedit editor, scroll down and ADD these lines to the end of the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file:

# So you need to go into the alsa-base.conf file and then add the following lines at the end of it.

# Keep snd-pcsp from being loaded as first soundcard
options snd-pcsp index=-2
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=6stack

3. reboot and retest sound using headphones while testing ALL audio jacks in the front and back panel of the PC

4. In alsamixer , make sure to (again) unmute all channels and increase the volume on all channels. In alsamixer, a channel is muted if there is MM instead of OO at the bottom of the mixer channel.

5. If it still does not work, please try one of the following model options instead (REPLACING 6stack as model option with 3stack or 3stack-digout or .. etc.... . , so only use ONE model option at a time between reboots):

ALC880
======
3stack 3-jack in back and a headphone out
3stack-digout 3-jack in back, a HP out and a SPDIF out
  5stack 5-jack in back, 2-jack in front
5stack-digout 5-jack in back, 2-jack in front, a SPDIF out
  6stack 6-jack in back, 2-jack in front
  6stack-digout 6-jack with a SPDIF out
  w810 3-jack
  z71v 3-jack (HP shared SPDIF)
  asus 3-jack (ASUS Mobo)
  asus-w1v ASUS W1V
  asus-dig ASUS with SPDIF out
asus-dig2 ASUS with SPDIF out (using GPIO2)
  uniwill 3-jack
  fujitsu Fujitsu Laptops (Pi1536)
  F1734 2-jack
lg LG laptop (m1 express dual)
  lg-lw LG LW20/LW25 laptop
  tcl TCL S700
  clevo Clevo laptops (m520G, m665n)
  medion Medion Rim 2150
test for testing/debugging purpose, almost all controls can be
adjusted. Appearing only when compiled with
  $CONFIG_SND_DEBUG=y
  auto auto-config reading BIOS (default)

You will need to reboot and retest sound after every change to the alsa-base.conf file. Please do not mix several model options at the same time in the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file. Only one model option is allowed between reboots.

Regards,

Mark
