having sound problems with ubuntu 15.04 and LXDE
I have installed lubuntu on this machine and get no sound beyond the POST at start of boot. This is my second installation of the OS. With the first I began some of the procedures outlined at https:/
This time around I had hoped to get some help instead of flying blind as the procedures outlined in above paragraph are not specific to my version of ubuntu. Is there anyone that can help me with this please?

Incidentally, I have a Klipsch 2.1 system plugged into the onboard sound of this system at the back of the computer via the standard mini-phono plug (headphone sized jack) with no mic.

Please first ensure that onboard audio is actually enabled in the BIOS.
I also see lots of muted mixer channels (or mixer channels with volume set to 0%) in your Terminal output...
Please use alsamixer to unmute and increase volume to 75% on the following mixer channels:

Mark, thanks for your help. Per your instructions above I have ensured the sound card is not turned off in the BIOS. Have checked front and rear jacks with headphones as well as my speakers and get nothing from either of them, with one exception which I will note further down.
In adjusting the level or gain settings through alsamixer, I have done as you said and adjusted the ones you listed to 75%. There are however a couple of these that either are not listed in alsamixer or I simply can not adjust them beyond just unmuting them. They are as follows.
Simple mixer control '3D Control - Switch' will not adjust beyond 00, however it is now no longer muted
Simple mixer control 'Surround Down Mix' will not adjust beyond 00, however it is now no longer muted
Simple mixer control 'Center/LFE Down Mix' will not adjust beyond 00, however it is now no longer muted
Simple mixer control 'IEC958' Does not exist in the alsamixer window
Simple mixer control 'IEC958 Playback AC97-SPSA' Does not exist in the alsamixer window
Simple mixer control 'Duplicate Front' will not adjust beyond 00, however it is now no longer muted
Simple mixer control 'Exchange Center/LFE' will not adjust beyond 00, however it is now no longer muted
Simple mixer control 'External Amplifier' Could not determine how to disable this one. Seems I only have option to unmute it. No volume adjustment
Simple mixer control 'Swap Surround Slot' will not adjust beyond 00, however it is now no longer muted
As mentioned earlier regarding the one exception, upon entering 'speaker-test' in a terminal window the speakers both broadcast the white noise as the troubleshooting guide claims it should. There is one difference since the changes you had me make though. The white noise is constant where before it faded in and out slowly.
