Sound problems in dual boot ubuntuGNOME(14.04) and windows 8.1 - the headphones don't work in windows; there's dual output in ubuntu.

Asked by randomwalkerr53

Hi,

I have ubuntuGNOME (14.04) and windows 8.1 on my laptop.

I have been noticing the following problems for about two weeks (after a system update ?):

1.Headphones don't work in windows.
2.There's dual output in ubuntu.

I'm following this guide : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure

Here's the link to my alsa diagnostic test: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=dd3d7f8a82f35181ac39d1e65d492954712a1c6d

Here's a screenshot of alsa mixer : http://imgur.com/H247vTK

Here's the terminal output from step #4 : http://paste.ubuntu.com/11972027/

I'm looking for some guidance to fix this issue.

Thanks in advance!
EDIT : Rebooted after step 4. The sound is crackled and the problem has not been resolved. Should I proceed or await further instructions.

EDIT : fast boot was never enabled in windows.
