No sound, no card detected by ALSA. PCI sound card detected on the system

Asked by Daniel

I've tried most of the solutions found online and so far got nowhere.

[EDIT (updated the alsa script)]: The alsa info script is here: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=9bb700dbc3c80fbebb25c33059a164f91c8464c6 [/EDIT]

Some info that might be interesting, i can't get the alsamixer to open, it says file doesn't exist. The device is listed as dummy output on the controller. reinstaling e force reloading the alsa and pulse did nothing.

Anyone have a sugestion?

please execute the command

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade; sudo apt-get --reinstall install linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-utils libasound2

and copy/paste all output into this question document that you have already created.

Posted as an edit. I should also add that since that question was asked, i upgraded the Ubuntu Version to 15.04, but the problem persisted. Should i do another Alsa Info log?

I suspect that your PC is experiencing the following bugs:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1401744

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1432216

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+question/250131

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/265877

Those 2 bug reports, the other 2 threads and your own issue here are all about various Toshiba models.

All 4 reports mention the following error message, which is in your Terminal output as well:

snd_hda_intel 0000:00:1b.0: no AFG or MFG node found

So I suspect that this is a hardware related issue in those Toshiba models....

Please carefully read and try the instructions given by Daniel Letzeisen in the following thread:

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+question/250131

I have no further suggestions to make.

Yeah, i noticed that toshiba pattern too Mike and feared as much.
I believe i can call myself beaten. The only thing i haven't tried is the BIOS update, seen that it's something i've never done, and i'm not sure i want to start now.

Thanks anyway, i'll leave this here in case anyone have any more suggestions

Can you help with this problem?
