ok, run:

chmod +x ~/alsa-info.sh

Then run:

~/alsa-info.sh

Select to upload to the site (Use TAB and ENTER to navigate the menu). What is the resulting URL

Odd thing is I did as you requested, the process bombed and ~/alsa-info.sh is now empty!!

however going back to the original and running again gets me - eventually - this URL

I am not at base at present and am using this PC so don't want to execute anything this potentially unfriendly for a while.

I am running bits of Kubuntu over Ubuntu with a non-Unity i/f (effectively classic Gnome). I can't work out whether or not it would actually re-install the UI etc.

It souonds a pretty hostile approach. ;-)
