Combo audio, microphone input not recognized/working

Asked by Arne Beer

Hi!

My new laptop got a combo audio 3.5mm input. Sound output works fine, but the microphone of my 4pin combo audio headset is not beeing recognized. I spent the last few hours by trying several solutions for this problem, but nothing worked yet.

Here is my output of your debug script:

Have you tried with the official kernel?
Do you have sound with that?

I am not sure about how it is in your laptop, but in my case I used HdaJackRetask (Available in alsa-tools), then I choosen my sound card. click on show unconnected pins, and in my case I needed to override pin 0x19 to microphone..

@actionparsnip: The problem occured with the official kernel. I installed the new one as some people said, that it would fix this issue.

@Халид I just tried all possible combinations in HdaJackRetask. There is a pin with id 0x21, which represents my headphones. Pins 0x17 to 0x1e don't seem to be associated to the microphone, as they don't work with 'connectivity: jack; device: microphone; jack: 3.5mm; Channel: 3'. Did you apply advanced override settings on your pins as well?

@Arne Beer, no I didn't apply advanced override, for me it was simpler, all I did was to show the unconnected pins and then do an override for pin 0x19 (which shows unplugged) to Microphone. Now when ever I plug my microphone it disables the internal microphone and enables the headset one. Just override it, click on apply and check if it works, then if it fully works click on install boot override. you could also check the audio card driver source code.
