Recent update of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS resulted in sound hardware not being recognized.

Asked by Agronskey Hooper

Using MintUpdate under PinguyOS 12.04 LTS, a version of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, resulted in the sound hardware on my motherboard (Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3) no longer being recognized.

⚠ Sound settings list 'Dummy Output' as my sound device in the Output section.

⚠ Nothing is listed under the Input section.

⚠ Nothing is listed under the Hardware section.

⚠ I only use analog output through stereo connectors, not HDMI.

How do I reactivate the sound functions on my system?

Pinguy is not supported here or in any of the Ubuntu support channels. It's community is entirely separate from Ubuntu's.

I suggest you post here:

I speak Spanish and this result was worked well for many people:
"Probaste presionando ALT + F2 y escribiendo:
gnome-control-center sound
Espero te sea de ayuda, saludos."
That Trasnlates to;
"Try pressing ALT + F2 and writing;
gnome-control-center sound
I hope that helps you, Good Luck!"

Can you help with this problem?
