no sound on vpceb17fx sony trusty (upgrade from precise)

Asked by aminorex

I have no speakers. Devices are not detected in pavucontrol although alsa-info.sh shows them:
http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=9aefb815296c546f9d4710097ea51bbd1519c2d6

How can I make progress in diagnosing this?

Your Terminal output shows this issue:

Simple mixer control 'Master',0
  Capabilities: pvolume pvolume-joined pswitch pswitch-joined
  Playback channels: Mono
  Limits: Playback 0 - 64
  Mono: Playback 0 [0%] [-64.00dB] [on]

Master channel is at 0% volume....

Please run alsamixer in a Terminal and then increase volume to 100% on the "Master" mixer channel....

Then retest sound output on headphones and analog speakers.

Test all audio jacks at the front and the back of your PC.
