Logitech G930 not working with Ubuntu 14.04

Asked by Alan Stuart

My Logitech G930 wireless headset is recognized by the system and the buttons on it work, however it is not recognized as a sound input/output device, and I can't use it. It is also picked up in the alsamixer.

System info: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=95baf8d5537491c91819fbf652f1cb0ac27954e6

Thanks!

If you run the sound application in Dash. Has the usb device been selected as the output device?

The usb device does not show as an output device, hence my not being able to select it.

I've purged and re-installed both pulseaudio and alsa to no effect.

I did a killall pulseaudio && pulseaudio and it came up with the following message:

Failed to load module "module-alsa-card" (argument: "device_id="2" name="usb-Logitech_Logitech_G930_Headset-00-Headset" card_name="alsa_card.usb-Logitech_Logitech_G930_Headset-00-Headset" namereg_fail=false tsched=yes fixed_latency_range=no ignore_dB=no deferred_volume=yes use_ucm=yes card_properties="module-udev-detect.discovered=1""): initialization failed.

Ok, I figured it out. The G930 comes with a USB charge dock that allows you to move the receiver further away from the computer.
I disconnected it from that and of course it works. Here is the error message I was seeing when using the charge dock:

[ 66.577448] 4:1:1: usb_set_interface failed (-22)
[ 66.577911] xhci_hcd 0000:02:00.0: ERROR: unexpected command completion code 0x11.
[ 66.577916] usb 8-1: Not enough bandwidth for altsetting 1
[ 66.577919] 4:1:1: usb_set_interface failed (-22)
[ 66.578360] xhci_hcd 0000:02:00.0: ERROR: unexpected command completion code 0x11.
[ 66.578365] usb 8-1: Not enough bandwidth for altsetting 1
[ 66.578368] 4:1:1: usb_set_interface failed (-22)

Either way I am happy the issue is fixed. Can't believe it was a hardware issue. Dock works fine with Windows.

I had the same issue! USB devices don't work when I connect them through the charging stand in Linux, which I assumed wasn't much more than a dumb USB extension/splitter. Thanks for the tip.
