[HDA-Intel - HDA Intel, playback] No sound at all after installing pulseaudio equalizer

Asked by Josh Kiiffner

Just downloaded ubuntu 2 nights ago (so im new) and last night I downloaded pulseaudio equalizer to try it out. So i was messing with it and it sounded worse for some reason when i turned it on. Around the same time, and i'm pretty sure i didn't change anything, the sound just stopped. So i next thought maybe the equalizer had messed something up, so i went to remove it and accidentally removed the whole pulseaudio sound server instead of the equalizer and that left me with no volume indicator on the task bar and still no audio. Reinstalled that whole package though but still nothing. Tried different things in alsa mixer other threads were saying like turning off auto mute which i didnt even have listed and made sure nothing was muted. One thing that was weird was it turned off my volume led switch on my laptop, but i changed that to on in alsamixer and that was fine again, but now i just have no sound and have been trying to figure what happened since. Also I have it hooked up to surround through the headphones right now and i tried to unplug that and see if the speakers worked and they didn't. Oh and what is supposed to show up in sound settings for output normally? Because im not sure exactly what it was before but it just says Digital Output S/PDIF Built in Audio. Is the actual driver's name supposed to be there? I'm not sure, but when i uninstalled pulse audio sound server all my outputs were gone along with the volume indicater. Any support is greatly appriciated, Thank you!
