lost sound after updating,why can't i get it back?

After i updated, i lost all sound and when i go to my sound settings they say nothing is muted then i try to sound test theres no sound..is there anything i can do to solve this problem that has occured?

Try:

killall pulseaudio; rm -r ~/.pulse*

Wait 10 seconds then reboot

Copy the command and press CTRL+ALT+T. Paste the command to the terminal and hit ENTER. You don't need to be familiar with anything but copy and paste which I am very sure you have no problem with.

thank you.. that seems to fix that problem. also installed alsa sound mixer to help with future sound problems...
