Hi,
Please try this procedure:
Step 1: Open Terminal
Step 2: Run the following commands (copy/paste each command into the Terminal and then hit <enter>)
gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.
Using the gedit editor, add these 2 lines to the end of the alsa-base.conf file:
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=auto
Don't forget to reboot your pc after every change you make on the /etc/modprobe.
If those alsa-base.conf options don't work, please try these 2 lines instead:
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=acer-aspire
Run alsamixer and unmute and increase volume to 100% on the following mixer channels:
Simple mixer control 'Speaker',0
Simple mixer control 'Auto-Mute Mode',0 -> set to disabled
