sound wont play and takes too long to reboot

no sound will play from laptop speakers, also computer takes several tries to boot up to use, current ubuntu is out dated and will not allow upgrade

Sorry, I forgot to change this bug away from 'gnome-terminal', before changing it to a question. When I re-did that, it created question 208208, so please look there instead. Thanks.

Intrepid is EOL. I suggest you upgrade with a clean install of Precise.
