MSI Notebook M662: Mic & Line input not working. Internal Mic Yes

I am following the https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure

At Step 3 I shout get the output:
# ALSA Version
# Driver version: 1.0.25
# Library version: 1.0.25
# Utilities version: 1.0.25

But I get

Driver version: 1.0.24
Library version: 1.0.25
Utilities version: 1.0.25

They say its not a good thing having different version numbers here. In synaptics I noticed that ALL packets which have to do with also are installed in version 1.0.24 so I cannot explain to myself why the driver shows 1.0.24.

Anyway: Anyone having a clue what to do to mak run the external Mic?

If you run:

alsamixer

are all levels cranked and unmuted?

@actionparsnip: Yes, all are set to max and unmuted, except Internal Boost. It makes a really bad noise if the internal mic is on and boosted since the speakers are right next to the mic.

Speakers work.
Internal Mic works.
Headphone output works.
Microphone input DOESN'T WORK
Line In DOESN'T WORK

About step10: I am member of the mentioned groups eccept of pulse-rt which doesn't seem to exist on my machine.

Open alsamixer in a Terminal session, then unmute and increase volume to 100% on the following mixer channels:

Simple mixer control 'Capture',0
Simple mixer control 'Digital',0
Simple mixer control 'Input Source',0 -> SWITCH input source from Front Mic to Mic
Simple mixer control 'Internal Mic',0

Then connect your external microphone to the rear mic input jack at the back of your PC (instead of using front mic in jack).

Then retest your external microphone.
