No sound Ubuntu 12.04
Hi
After install the new release form ubtuntu i have no sound at all.
With 11.10 i had sound after adding a line to alsa.conf
options snd-hda-intel model=asus
Already put the same line, i still have no sound..
any help?

Please try this procedure:
Step 1: Open a Terminal
Step 2: Run the following command (copy/paste command into the Terminal
and then hit <enter>)
gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.
In the gedit editor, scroll down to the last lines of the alsa-base.conf
file and add these 2 lines to the end of the alsa-base.conf file (with
the file open inside the gedit editor!):
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=3stack-660
Step 3: Reboot pc and retest sound using both headphones and speakers.
Test all audio jacks on the front and the back of your PC.
Step 4: If sound is still not working after a reboot, replace the 3stack-660
model option with one of the model options below (for example: asus-laptop
) and then reboot and retest sound again.

I have exactly the same problem with the same laptop : w7j and same sound card ALC-660.

Many years and many ubunto released I've used before, each times I had only to add the "options snd-hda-intel model=asus" and that worked perfectly, annoying but a straw beside all the goodness got by Ubuntu.
But for this Precise Pingolin... nothing works. I tried all version you gave above. I tried to install a new version of hda dkms as I've read on another website (linked here https:/
aplay -l looks good, lspci too, but in PulseAudio only Digital Audio S/PDIF mount at output, and nothing at input. As if PulseAudio can't read the card.
I hope I won't have to rollback in 11.10...
If there are new ideas ? Or updates ?
