Sound quickly stop after login
I cannot hear any sound (speaker or hearphone) after login as user or guest. I hear the sound when the login screen appear. Also, the sound is working well using 12.04 live CD.

Sound still working at login screen but doesn't working once logged in.
alsa-info.sh shows different version for driver. After removing previously installed package alsa_hda_dksm, and repeating step 1, the difference is always there.

Sadly, adding
options snd-usb-audio index=-2

to /etc/modprobe.

At a second reboot, with the audio jacks (mic + headphone), the sound works once (vlc). I cannot reproduce, with or without jack in.
I try few configuration in pavucontrol, but after a very short time, no card are available in the configuration tab.
I always see the card in alsamixer:
Card: HDA Intel, Chip: Intel IbexPeak HDMI
Volumes seem okay.

Looks like an unresolved regression in Ubuntu 12.04 beta. Maybe a regression in the newer Linux kernel or PulseAudio.

So according to your own bug report, sound output works in Ubuntu 11.10, but not in Ubuntu 12.04 beta.
I think the main issue in this case is the following ALSA error, which occurs in both bug reports:

Issue apparently occurs in very recent builds of Ubuntu 12.04 beta.

The problem was not present in live cds (both 11.10 and 12.04), but appears after installation.
As stated before, I always hear sound at the login screen.
Sometime (really difficult to reproduce), I could hear sound for few seconds.
