Conexant HD Audio capture and output devices "removed"

Asked by Chris Dale on 2012-02-29

Hello. I'm running Oneiric with the KDE desktop environment. I was attempting to use Rosetta Stone with Wine and was surprised I had no microphones available. I checked out the Phonon settings, and Phonon notified me that my Conexant Audio devices had been disconnected (It's a [Gateway] laptop. I certainly haven't been disconnecting anything). I'm still getting audio through internal speakers and headphones, but no recognition of my microphone; either internal or through line-in.
