If you go into alsamixer and turn 'Independent HP' on, does it help?

Hi Dave,

I downloaded and installed GNOME Alsa mixer and turned on the Independent HP option but no joy I'm afraid.

Any ideas?

This is probably the VIA codec headphone automute bug that was fixed in ALSA 1.0.25. So try a newer ALSA module: https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-audio-dev/+archive/alsa-daily/+packages

Hi Dave,

Thanks so much for your time. I have had a look at the link and there is a list of different packages but I don't know which one I need or how to install them.

Sorry I am so new to linux and as you ca imagine quite lost right now, been a windows user way too long lol.

Please can you advise what steps I need to take, thanks again.

Kind regards
Alan

Hi Dave,

Again thanks so much for your time.

It all went well till the last command "sudo apt-get install dkms-hda" It returned the following error:

E: Unable to locate package dkms-hda

Not sure what's going wrong.

Kind regards
Alan
