Does it work in sound recorder? Testing using Skype is not a good idea as Skype often has issues with hardware which works perfectly well in open source apps rather than the proprietary mess that is Skype.

Ok, rerun:

wget -O alsa-info.sh http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh; chmod +x ./alsa-info.sh; ./alsa-info.sh

and press Y to upload to the server and hit ENTER. and you will see the URL in the terminal. Copy and paste the URL and paste here

Ok. I said to press Y to upload to the server, yet you selected N.... Why are you not following instruction....

If you ask for help and someone gives you steps to follow but you don't (and they aren't technical) follow them you will make this whole process a lot LONGER.

We can work around this which is convenient but in future do what is asked.

What is the output of:

gedit /tmp/alsa-info.txt.86PE5ktJ0K

Thanks

Maverick is EOL in April so I suggest you upgrade soon. you may find this helps:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/ppa; sudo apt-get update;sudo apt-get dist-upgrade; killall pulseaudio; rm -r ~/.pulse*

Reboot to test
