No Sound, Soundcard Not Fully Detected

I have Xubuntu 11.10 x64 on a new Dell XPS 1702X.

Step One of SoundTroubleShootingProcedure, first command I received the error:

"E: Internal Error, No file name for libasound2"

The second command in step one gave the error:

"Some index files failed to download."

In the middle of the command running, and, at the end:

Problem solved with kernel update to 3.0.0.16.
