M-Audio Delta44 Sound card not working well

I am a novice with a new install of 11.10. I am trying to use a M-Audio Delta 44 sound card. I am able to hear the normal system notice sounds via the Speaker port, but I am not able to make assignments to the Line In/Out ports of this 4 port card. I referenced the "Official Documentation | community contributed documentation | Hardware | Sound | Open Sound| I read that ' canouical/Ubuntu ==disabled OSS' OK! Where do I go?

HdaIntel Sound How to is for the MB sound card -- Not the card I am working with.

Where can I go to read what I might need to do?
Are there people that can help with this problem?

OK. I ran the command and it listed the up load URL at the bottom of this test.

Please UNMUTE and INCREASE volume to 100% on all mixer channels for the following mixer name using alsamixer:

 Mixer name : 'ICE1712 - multitrack'

The volume on all the channels are currently muted and set to 0% volume....
