No audio

install Ubuntu 10.04 on hp 625 lap top but can not get any sound from the lap top speakers or from speakers plug into the lap top
please help if poss
Also looking for a easy way to shares files with Ubuntu ,windows 7 ,and xp

Install alsamixer, open a terminal and type "alsamixer". Move with the left and right keys on your keyboard until the "Master" item is highlighted (in red). If the letters "MM" show under the volume bar, press "M" to unmute. Repeat with the "Headphone", "PCM", "Front", "Surround", "Center" items. Press Esc when you are finished.
