I think you sound card is suffering from the following bugs, which exist in both Ubuntu 10.04 and Ubuntu 11.04:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/546467
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/849905

There is no solution yet....

I have the same issue with my audio card: the HT|Omega eClaro sound card - CMI8788 [Oxygen HD Audio]. I had this issue with Ubuntu Maverick 64-bit, and had hoped that updating to Ubuntu Natty might solve the problem, but no such luck. I also tried updating the ALSA driver package to the latest daily version, un-installed and re-installed various audio drivers/components/etc. This did not help, either. The symptoms are no audio or sound output at all, and no way to enable the audio card, since it does not appear in the list of available sound devices. I would really like to see this fixed, and agree that it is probably the Ubuntu bugs listed above that most likely describe the problem. Is there any chance of this being fixed? I'd really like audio on this system, especially since I just got the new audio card, which works fine in Windows XP and Windows 7, but not in Ubuntu...

Can you help with this problem?
