How do I turn the sound on using Ubuntu11.04?

Asked by Margaret Mackintosh

I have my sound turned all the way up but I still cannot hear things over the laptop? So since there is not a ALSA MIXER like on Ubuntu10.04 LTS, where you can turn 'External ' off and therefore get the sound internally, what do I do to hear sound online?

Can you give the output of:

wget -O alsa-info.sh http://alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh && bash ./alsa-info.sh

Thanks

I open the link that actionparsnip sent. Didn't make any sense to me. I just know how to browse the web, email and the like. Nothing that concerns command lines etc. So if anyone can answer me in 'layman's' terms/simple language I would like to hear from you.

It's not a link, its a command. Copy the command and paste it into a terminal then press ENTER. Upload to the server and you will generate a URL. It is in laymans terms. You just saw a blue URL and clicked it blindly. If you read then you will see what is what.

Can you help with this problem?
