No sound with onboard Realtek ALC 650 (xubuntu 11.04)
Hi,
I've read and followed the following thread, as I have exactly the same problem :

But I can't get the sound work properly : I have no sound in my speakers whereas the sound card seems to be recognized correctly.
I have unmuted all the channels and set their volume to 100%.
So I don't know what to do to make sound work properly.
Thanks in advance for your help.

PS: Speakers are OK and connected to the right output jack (worked on windows)

Looks like a midi device, is this set as the audio output device in sound prefs? If so, switch to the nvidia device

No, it's Nvidia's one.
Therefore, I've just desactivated the UART from BIOS to be sure...

I have deactivated everything i don't need from BIOS (serial ports, parallel ports, UART, etc...) but still no sound.
I don't know what else to do/ try to fix it.

Another information that may help : the chipset is nForce 2 (ASUS A7N8X-X Motherboard).
Maybe the chipset driver is faulty ?

Go into alsamixer and change your channel mode to 6ch. Also try turning off 'External Amplifier'. Use the M key to mute/unmute.
