Lost all sound in Ubuntu 10.10

Asked by Georgina Varhelyi

I'm not sure when this happened either this morning or yesterday when I tried to configure a tv tuner which didn't work BTW (not to worry) but I only noticed it this morning that I had lost all sound in ubuntu - sound in windows works fine. Nothing is muted and I tried to test it and nothing worked.

Everything in ubuntu worked fine before.

This area is for answers about launchpad.net. You can try https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu instead.

@Georgina Varhelyi
I have moved this to https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu, which--as Benji York says--is the correct place to ask and work on questions with this topic.

If you post a reply to reopen the question (you can do that at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+question/164213 or by email), then people will know you still need help with this, and people who are good at troubleshooting sound on Ubuntu will probably help you in short order.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Georgina Varhelyi for more information if necessary.
