pulse audio server collapsing after starting of skype as well as vlc media player

When i start my skype or vlc media player, after some time my pulse audio system is hanging for some time and again restarting.
In this mean time my skype or vlc media player is not working at all. I don't have any problem with vlc media player because i can opt for some other player but in the case of skype i don't have other alternative which replace skype. Please suggest some remedy to overcome this problem as soon as possible.
OS: Ubuntu Natty Narwal 11.04 with recent updates

Thanks for the ubuntu launchpad forum, and i solved problem using this forum and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure of this most useful website. Now my skype and vlc are working fine and i don't want to go for windows again and i reliably working in ubuntu without any worries. Thanks again for this ubuntu,debian,free software foundation,canonical and community members to providing rich source of knowledge to this whole earth.
