Intel 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02)-Realtek ALC883 (5.1) - moving windows makes a low rumbling, scratchy sound?

upgrading to natty-unity caused changes in sound configuration.

5.1 surround sound no longer worked.

Eventually I deleted as many pulse & alsa files as I could,

& reinstalled, & finally got 5.1 surround sound back.

When I tested the speakers they all worked, except

the subwoofer made a garbled sound, & when I drag

windows or apps around on the desktop there is a

low rumbling & scratchy sound, as if audio is not

completely configured. I do not know to tweak

the settings [IRQ & or DMA] to get perfect audio.

I can't read the alsa info. Here is a copy:
