  lspci
  lsmod

Driver version: 1.0.23
Library version: 1.0.22
Utilities version: 1.0.22

Is your issue. Your lib and utilities are older than the driver.

You can use this:
http://monespaceperso.org/blog-en/2010/05/02/upgrade-alsa-1-0-23-on-ubuntu-lucid-lynx-10-04/

To upgrade the lib and utils to 1.0.23

Should help

After doing the above the result is :-

!!ALSA Version
!!------------

Driver version: 1.0.23
Library version: 1.0.23
Utilities version: 1.0.22

The Utilities version is still 1.0.22 is that a problem?
