In future, please can you detail makes and models of stuff in the question. It is VERY important.

Can you give the output of:

wget -O alsa-info.sh http://alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh && bash ./alsa-info.sh

Select to upload to the site and a red URL will be made. What is the URL please?

Driver version: 1.0.21
Library version: 1.0.22
Utilities version: 1.0.22

Your driver version is different to the rest.

Try:

http://monespaceperso.org/blog-en/2010/05/02/upgrade-alsa-1-0-23-on-ubuntu-lucid-lynx-10-04/

To upgrde to 1.0.23

may help

Icon sound at upper bar
Sound Preferences->Output
At bottom, I have "Connector" with two choices "Analog Output"/"Analog Headphone".
Your configuration could differ from mine.
Check volume and mute at top of window.

Can you help with this problem?
