Sound only comes out of headphone jack, Ubuntu 10.10, HP Pavilion 510t

Hi,

I just bought an HP Pavilion HPE-510t and after installing Ubuntu 10.10, I cannot get sound out of any of the speaker jacks. However, I do get sound out of the headphone jack.

When I run alsamixer, I can see the four nVidia outputs (I'm assuming these are the four audio output jacks in the back of the machine), labeled S/PDIF, S/PDIF 1, S/PDIF 2, and S/PDIF 3, but I cannot turn up their volume (even after un-muting them).

to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

Did you reboot before testing?

If you also run:

alsamixer

make sure all levels are cranked and unmuted. Use ESC or Q (I forget which) to exit the app.

I did reboot with no luck.

Also,when I run alsamixer, I can see the four nVidia outputs (I'm assuming these are the four audio output jacks in the back of the machine), labeled S/PDIF, S/PDIF 1, S/PDIF 2, and S/PDIF 3, but I cannot turn up their volume (even after un-muting them). I can turn up all of the volume for the "HDA Intel PCH/IDT ID 76c7" Master and PCM (which is what I am assuming controls the headphones jack in the front of the machine).

You use cursors to change values.

ok instead of:
options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv5 enable_msi=1

Try:
options snd-hda-intel model=hp
or
options snd-hda-intel model=laptop
or
options snd-hda-intel model=auto

May help (reboot in between each change)
