not able to listen any sound on my inbuilt speakers

not able to listen any sound on inbuilt laptop speakers but able to listen while using headphone. want to reinstall audio drivers. how to reinstall the audio drivers?

What make and model laptop. You left that out it its hugely important....

Hi

I have 10.10.

1: Call the Gnome Alsa Mixer. Check all the mutes and the loudness. The second bar, called Master M, is important.

2: Read the following: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure

Please execute step 1 and step 2, then REBOOT and send us the full terminal output from step 3 and step 4 from this procedure:

Please also specify the exact model and make of your PC (if known).

In a terminal run:

alsamixer

make sure none of the levels are muted and all are cranked. If all is well then run:

gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

Add this line:
options snd-hda-intel model=auto

Save the new file and reboot, if it doesn't work then re-edit the file and change:
options snd-hda-intel model=auto
to
options snd-hda-intel model=3stack
If that fails, try:
options snd-hda-intel model=laptop

Again, reboot to test (Easier for new users imho)

tried all the 3 variants. none helped out. but there is a thing i missed to mention that it started happening from my last update of kernel to 2.6.35-24 . atleast that's the most significant thing that i can recall coz my laptop is pretty new one and i use it safely enough not to cause any physical damage to it. Can this(kernel updation) be a cause of this problem?
