how to hear what you say to microphone immediately from load speakers/headphones in ubuntu 9.10 ?

loading pulsaudio loopback module was suggested to me in freenode pulseaudio channel, but

pacmd load-module module-loopback

has not worked, it has said:

Module load failed.

At a command line, try this:
dd if=/dev/dsp of=/dev/dsp

how can i stop that if it will break something? ctrl+C ?
