How do I get HDMI sound to work on my Asus k52j ?

Want to use my lap top to show DVD's on a TV.
The analogue sound output is not amplified by the TV
How do I get the HDMI to work on an Asus K52Jc running Lucid?

Check in your BIOS if you have, like me, an option to enable audio in HDMI link.

Thank you for your reply.
Got into my BIOS by hitting Esc on boot up
Could not find an option enabling HDMI, there was something about POST sound
Any other suggestions?

My BIOS is:
BIOS Vender; American Megatrends
Version; K52Jc 206
VBIOS Version: 1930.111K52.004
EC Version: 202c1a0000

The mother board is:
SATA Host Adapter 5 Serie/3400 Series Chipset
4 Post SATA AHCI Controller

Could you open the icon Sound in upper menu bar. Then open tab "Hardware", select HDMI and then check tab "Output".

Unfortunately, I have a Nvidia card. Try the other forums

Delance thank you for your reply
When I System>Preferences>Sound>Hardware and select HDMI
When I select HDMI in Output it shuts off the sound from the internal speakers
