How to disable webcam microphones in Ubuntu 10.10

Asked by John Randall

Hi, I want to disable 2 webcam microphones as I believe they are preventing me from using an external audio source from being read in "line in" on my pc's audio jacks. How can this be done.

Thanks

If you run:

alsamixer

You should see them there and you can mute the mic

Hi, OK I have set the hardwar up for analogue duplex, and disabled the webcam microphones, but the line in audio is not strong enough at -10dB, I need it up to 0dB. The sliders are already on maximum. I guess I need to download and install the realtek drivers, for this to work correctly. The chipset here is the rtl820x.

Cheers
John

will the realtek drivers cure this problem or am I still missing something ?
