Acer Aspire 7540 Sound Capture Mic big noise and stop working

On Laptop Aspire 7540 - Ubuntu 10.10 amd64 the microphone doesn't work correctly on the Applications: Sound Record, Audacity, Skype, Google Gmail phone. Sometimes I am able to record something with big noises, but after a while It doesn't record at all and the Mic is not working on the applications mentioned above.

Problem is solved adding "options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1" in alsa-base.conf

DMA-Position Problem

The most common problem of the controller is the inaccurate DMA pointer reporting. The DMA pointer for playback and capture can be read in two ways, either via a LPIB register or via a position-buffer map. As default the driver tries to read from the io-mapped position-buffer, and falls back to LPIB if the position-buffer appears dead. However, this detection isn’t perfect on some devices. In such a case, you can change the default method via position_fix option.

so for the realtek alc888 problem is solved adding "options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1" in alsa-base.conf

It seems that the mic has more noise then the Win7 drivers but I am very satisfied to be able to use the mic!
