Could try:

gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

add this line;

options snd-hda-intel model=dell

First DELETE the following lines in the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file:

options snd-hda-intel model=auto
options snd-hda-intel model=dell

Then only ADD the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

options snd-hda-intel model=dell-s14

So the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file should ONLY contain the dell-s14 model option (not model=auto and not model=dell)
