Problem with the microfone on asus g50v

Asked by TMX

I just installed ubuntu 10.04 on my asus g50v. my problem is with the microphone, i can't get it running, on skype or any other program. when i try to adjust from the sound card it shows that it's not getting any input?

i have tried connecting a blue tooth device dr-bt21 sony but in skype it will work for 5 to 10 seconds after it will disconnect.

can anybody help at least trying to fix the laptops mike so it will enable sound in skype or sound recorder?

Try

gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

add this line:

options snd-hda-intel model=asus-mode3

Save the new file and reboot, is it ok? Also make sure the sliders for volume are cranked and none are muted as well as run:

alsamixer

In terminal and do the same

the front mike works ok although my problem in the first is that i could not talk by skype on it or threw the headset device

reason why i am using a blue tooth headset is that the mike on this is excellent.

how can i enable the mike on the blue tooth device to work since when i selected from the:

 [ sound preferences/ hardware/ dr-bt21g (1output/1input telephony duplex 9hsp/hfp) ]

profile telephony duplex

and i go in input where it says "choose a device for input"

dr-bt21g my device

i can't selected

it stays on internal audio analog stereo
