10.04: no sound

Asked by peter

Hello

I installed 10.04 and I don't have sound. I had 8.04 and the sound worked perfect.

In the alsamixer, the second bar from the left is zeros. Maybe this is the problem.

Can you help? Let me know what you need. Thanks in advance.
Peter

HX_unbanned suggests this article as an answer to your question:

Also, steps you can try:

- enter command "pulseaudio -k" in Terminal;
- enter command "sudo alsa force-reload" in Terminal;
- compile and install ALSA from source, using this script: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6589810

- if it does not help, fill in bug report here, with attached PulseAudio debugging log. See this link: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio/Log

Hope this helps!

Thanks. But I went back to 8.04 LTS. Read the entry 10.04. Maybe it helps.

  I've just loaded Xubuntu 10.04 onto my Windows XP. Works fine but I've lost all the audio I had on XP. Can someone give a layman's solution? I'm not a programmer.
