no sound Gateway MT6451 Notebook

I just installed Ubuntu two days ago. I have no sound. I have media software installed along with the mixer showing up on my panel right next to the Date and time, but still no sould.

I have a Gateway MT6451 Notebook. This is the audio specs are right here for this laptop.

So I believe I have a Sigmatel chip. I cant find it in here when I input in kernel: lspci -v.

I also checked the website: http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/ and could not find the sigmatel driver. Can anyone help. I'm a two-day old noob when it comes to linux. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks.
