remove duplicate items from menus

Asked by t_robert

been using ubuntu for some time now. decided to try kubuntu. installed both kde and kde4. so far everything's going okay (except for the ignore .dmrc file thing, which i'm still researching on). but menus now show a duplicate of a lot of the programs (actually not really duplicates, i gather, since some are for the older kde and the others are for kde4). is there a way, a tweak of some sort, so that when i log-in to gnome/ubuntu, only gnome apps appear, kde apps when in kde and kde4 apps when in kde4? not really that important, but it would really be nice if there's a work around.... thanks...

AFAIK, no. Each set of applications will still run under the others desktop environment anyway.
